Five Synology Packages Updated This Week

Synology updated five of their packages this week. If you use a Synology NAS you probably use one or more of the updated packages.

Photo Station

Photo Station was updated to version 6.3–2963 which fixed a security issue to prevent cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks and also contained minor bug fixes.

Video Station

Video Station was updated to version 1.6–0851 which contained the following fixes:

  1. Fixed an issue where the seek and prev/next functions may not work properly when streaming videos to Apple TV 4th.
  2. Fixed an issue where users without administrator permission may be able to delete videos via SynTV on Apple TV 4th.
  3. Minor bug fixes.

Surveillance Station

Surveillance Station was updated to version 7.1–4122 with the following fixes.

  1. Fixed an issue where Surveillance Station plug-in cannot be installed properly in certain versions of Internet Explorer.
  2. Fixed an issue where I/O modules may not be triggered or stopped normally.
  3. Fixed an issue where DS cam (for iOS) may not display multi-view correctly in specific environment.
  4. Fixed an issue where configuration and recordings may not be synchronized properly in CMS architecture.
  5. Fixed an issue where Surveillance Station may fail to find other VisualStation devices in the network after switchover is performed in the high-availability cluster.
  6. Fixed issues related to Notification application.
  7. Minor bug fixes.

DNS Server

DNS Server was updated to version 1.1–0119 which upgraded bind to 9.9.8-P2 to fix security vulnerabilities (CVE–2015–8461 and CVE–2015–8000).

Plex

As usual, the changes to Plex aren’t documented by Synology. The new version is 0.9.15.2.1663–7efd046. This is the latest version for Synology that’s available directly from Plex. Plex has documented changes and fixes for all platforms in their release notes.
